Happy April everyone! I’m here to share the project I created for this month’s Inspiration Station Challenge. This month’s inspiration image features a lovely image of someone holding the earth and there are so many ways you can be inspired by the image! I was originally planning on doing something which featured a globe but then I saw this adorable ocean themed stamp which I hadn’t had a chance to use so I decided to be inspired by all the oceans on earth and do an ocean themed card.

The Inspiration Station Challenge: April

The Inspiration Station Challenge is a monthly challenge for all types of crafty projects. It starts the first Monday of each month and runs to the end of the month. Each month there is a new image to use for inspiration and it is a perfect way to jump start you creativity!

You can find all the details and link up your projects to play along on the Inspiration Station Challenge Blog!

Cardmaking process

To start out, I stamped this beautiful image from the Where Mermaids Live stamp set onto an A2 piece of cardstock with alcohol marker friendly ink. Then I ink blended the left side of the panel very lightly with some Tidepool ink. I didn’t bother with masking off the image since I was using such a light amount of ink.

Then I coloured in the image with my Ohuhu alcohol markers using various blue and green shades to keep with the oceanic feel. I cut down my card panel to 4 x 5 1/4 so I would have a little border around it. Then I rounded all the corners with my corner rounder. I also rounded the corners of my side folding A2 cardbase before adhering the card-front panel to the cardbase with some thin foam tape.

For the sentiment, I took a scrap of Peacock cardstock and heat embossed a sentiment from the Where Mermaids Live stamp set with white embossing powder. I cut it down to a sentiment strip and adhered it to the card with some thin foam squares. For embellishment, I added a few iridescent bubble gems around the card. That finishes the cardfront but I also decorated the inside!

I really like having something on the inside of my cards, I think it makes them more special! For this card I kept it simple and just stamped the image with the Tidepool ink and added a black sentiment. The Tidepool ink is light enough that I can easily write over it when I am ready to send this card.

Thank you for taking the time to read about how I created this card! I hope you enjoyed it and will come back to see more of my cardmaking creations! You can also follow me on Instagram to see more of my cards.
