Happy March everyone! We are getting closer to Spring!
I struggled a bit to decide how I wanted to interpret the inspiration image for this month’s Inspiration Station Challenge. After thinking about it for a bit, I came up with using the colours from the photo and incorporating the music they are playing by using a songbird stamp.
The Inspiration Station Challenge: March
The Inspiration Station Challenge is a monthly challenge for all types of crafty projects. It starts the first Monday of each month and runs to the end of the month. Each month there is a new image to use for inspiration and it is a perfect way to jump start you creativity!
You can find all the details and link up your projects to play along on the Inspiration Station Challenge Blog!
Cardmaking process
I started off with some watercolour cardstock cut the larger than I wanted my finished panel to be, so I could tape it down to a hard board while I was painting.
I stamped the large songbird and flower image with Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed it with some clear embossing powder. Then I used some my watercolours to paint the image with greens, pinks and yellows. I’m still very new to watercolouring but I’m very happy with how this turned out!
I kept the rest of the card simple, using a die to cut the watercoloured piece down to 5″x7″ so it would completely cover the front of my 5″x7″ card.
After adhering the watercoloured panel to my card I added the sentiment with some thin foam squares. The sentiment was stamped in black in and heat embossed in clear so it goes nicely with the heat embossed main image. To finish my card I added a few gems all around.
I hope you like my card and will join us for this month’s Inspiration Station Challenge! I can’t wait to see what everyone creates!
