Hello everyone and welcome to the September instalment of the Inspiration Station Challenge! I created a fun birthday card this month and I hope you like it.

The Inspiration Station Challenge

The Inspiration Station Challenge is a monthly challenge for all types of crafty projects. It starts the first Monday of each month and runs to the end of the month. Each month there is a new image to use for inspiration and it is a perfect way to jump start you creativity!

You can find all the details and link up your projects to play along on the Inspiration Station Challenge Blog!

Making the Card

I wanted to create a mostly one layer card so I started by stamping all my images out and masking them off. To create the rolling hills, I cut masking paper so I was able to ink blend each hill in a different shade. I used distress inks in the colours Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness and Mustard Seed for the hills. Then I used a stencil to ink blend a cloudy background with Broken China Distress Ink.

After I finished all my ink blending, I removed the masks from all the images and coloured them with my Ohuhu Alcohol markers. I used a flicking technique for the sign so it looks like it is made of wood. Because the farm house in the inspiration image is red, I chose a red blend for the mushroom houses.

I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder onto the sign after making very sure to apply my anti-static powder thoroughly because I really didn’t want to mess it up after I had done so much work on the card already! Fortunately, it heat embossed perfectly.

Then I die cut my panel with the largest of the Wavy Pierced Edges die set and adhered it to an A2 cardbase with foam tape. As a finishing touch, I added some Wink of Stella shimmer pen overtop of all the mushroom houses. This doesn’t show up well in photos but it looks lovely in real life!

I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created this card. I can’t wait to see what everyone creates for this month’s challenge! Make sure to leave any questions for me down in the comments and as always, thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
