Sometimes you just gotta let the sequins be the star!

I loved this beautiful sequin mix from Pawsome Stamps so much that I wanted to make the sequins really stand out on my card. The sequin mix is called Butterfly Kisses so I decided I just had to make a butterfly card! And what better way to make sequins the star of your card than making a full panel shaker card!

I stamped and heat embossed the butterfly from the Beautiful Wings stamp set onto some watercolour cardstock before watercolouring it with purples and gold to match the sequin mix. For the background, I just splattered on some of the same purple and gold paint and let that dry.

To make the shaker, I cut down a piece of clear packaging to 1 inch wider and taller than my background panel. I used Scor-Tape to adhered the clear plastic to my background on 3 sides then I filled the resulting pocket with sequins. Once I was happy with the amount of sequins, I sealed off the forth edge with more Scor-Tape and that was my background finished.

I used some thin foam tape to adhere the shaker background to my cardbase and then added the butterfly. I had fussy cut the butterfly after my watercolouring was dry, but there are coordinating dies available if you aren’t a fan of fussy cutting. Then all I had to do to finish the card was add a sentiment. I heat embossed one of the sentiments from the Beautiful Wings stamp set onto black cardstock with white embossing powder and cut it down to a strip. I used some thin foam squares to adhere the sentiment strip and that was it! An easy but impressive shaker card.

I hope you like this card and enjoyed reading about how I created it. If you did, I’d love it if you left me some love down in the comments!
