Hello and welcome to the August Inspiration Station Challenge!

We have a fun image filled with reds, yellows, oranges and greens for this month and I decided to use these colours on my card today.

The Inspiration Station Challenge

The Inspiration Station Challenge is a monthly challenge for all types of crafty projects. It starts the first Monday of each month and runs to the end of the month. Each month there is a new image to use for inspiration and it is a perfect way to jump start you creativity!

You can find all the details and link up your projects to play along on the Inspiration Station Challenge Blog!

Cardmaking Process

I started by stamping and heat embossing my image onto watercolour cardstock with white embossing powder. After the embossing powder was heat set, I taped the watercolour cardstock down to a hard board.

Then I sprinkled over some of my Brusho watercolour powders in yellow, red, and green. To activate the watercolour powders, I sprayed the whole cardstock panel with water. This got activated the watercolour powders and got them to blend together. After this had all dried, I fussy cut out the image and the centre.

For the background, I dry embossed a 5×7 sized piece of cardstock with a brick pattern stencil. Dry embossing with stencils is one of my favourite techniques for backgrounds, I think it adds the perfect amount of interest to the background.

I popped up the butterfly wreath with some thin foam squares and added it to my background. Then I added the sentiment which was white heat embossed on black cardstock to the lower right corner of the wreath. To finish I sprinkled a few gems around the card.

I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created this card! Make sure to come follow me on my Instagram @rookiecardmaker to see even more of my cardmaking creations.

Thank you SO MUCH! I’ve honestly been feeling a bit down in regards to blogging since I don’t get the same interaction I do with Instagram but your comment has totally re-inspired me to dive into it more!
