Design Team disclosure: As part of my design team work I received some of the products shared in this post for free.

I have really dived into creating holiday card recently and I had so much fun making this white poinsettia card with some new products from Picket Fence Studios.

For this card I started by stamping on of the images from the Peaceful Christmas Flowers stamp set with an alcohol marker friendly ink and colouring it with my Ohuhu markers. I like to use very pale yellow-green markers to add shading to white flowers because I find it looks much more realistic than using grey markers. Plus if you look at a real white poinsettia the petals have a slight greenish cast to them!

Ohuhu Markers Used

  • Greenery: BG2, G1, G3, and GY1
  • Flowers: GY7, GY172, and the colourless blender
  • Branches and flower centres: BR1

Making the Card

I wanted the image to be heat embossed in gold but colouring over heat embossing with alcohol markers can damage you markers so that is why I stamped with alcohol marker ink first. I had cleaned the stamp but left it in my MISTI after stamping the image the first time so I just put my cardstock back in my MISTI and stamped over it using Versamark embossing ink. I used Polished Gold embossing powder from WOW for the embossing. While I had my heat tool out I stamped and embossed a few sentiments from the stamp set as well.

For the rest of the card I had die cut an arch panel using the Basic Die Cutting Set 1 and I ink blended the bottom of this using Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink. Then I splattered this panel with Liquid Forest Green paper splatter watercolor. To add a bit more interest to the card I stencilled directly onto my cardbase with the Simple Plaid stencil and that same Rustic Wilderness ink.

I popped up the arched panel on my cardbase and added the poinsettia cluster with foam tape. I glue the sentiments to the top of the arch panel and that was it!

I hope you enjoyed reading how I created this card! Make sure to leave any questions down in the comments!
