I’m so excited to be able to say that I am joining the Whimsy Stamps Design Team this year! I can’t wait to share my projects featuring their wonderful crafty products. Thank you Whimsy Stamps for having me!

How I made it

I started by stamping the cute dog building a snow-dog from the Christmas Doggies stamp set with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Recently I’ve been loving using Rich Cocoa ink instead of black for a slightly softer effect. It is a nice change!

I also stamped the image on to some masking paper and fussy cut it to create a mask. Then I masked off the image so I could do some ink blending with distress ink in the colours Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry and Broken China. I kept the blending very light because I wanted to create a magical snowy scene.

Then I removed the mask and coloured the image with my Ohuhu alcohol markers. I added some dot details with my darkest marker shade and I really like the texture it adds to the image!

To finish I used the Twinkle Cluster stencil and glitter paste to add some embellishment. I love gems and pearls as much as the next cardmaker, but sometimes it is fun to do something different. Using a stencil and glitter paste is a fun way to embellish your card while doing something a bit different. As a final touch, I added clear Nuvo Crystal drops to the dogs nose to make it shiny.

Let me know down in the comments if you have ever tried using stencils to add embellishments! I think it would work great with little hearts for Valentine’s day too.
