Are you still working on your holiday cards? I am!

I’m trying to make enough cards so that I can give them to all my coworkers but I probably should have started making holiday cards earlier because I don’t have that many made yet!

December Inspiration Station Challenge

This card was created for the December Inspiration Station Challenge. If you aren’t familiar with it, the Inspiration Station Challenge is a monthly challenge for all types of crafty projects. It starts the first Monday of each month and runs to the end of the month. Each month there is a new image to use for inspiration and it is a perfect way to jump start you creativity!

The inspiration image for this month is filled with lots of holiday magic and there are so many different ways you can be inspired by it. I chose to take inspiration from the starry sky and the traditional Christmas colours of red and green.

How I created the card

To create this card, I first ink blended a circle with some blue inks. Then, without removing the circle mask stencil, I used some Paper Glaze in the colour Snowdrop White to stencil on some stars just inside the circle.

The Paper Glaze ended up picking up some of the blue colour as it dried so it ended up being a pale blue colour instead of bright white but I think it turned out looking nice anyway.

I coloured the duck image with my Ohuhu alcohol markers before die cutting it out. The sentiment was heat embossed in gold and the die cut as well. I’m new to using coordinating die sets, I used to be too cheap to buy them lol!

But I’m really liking how fast it is to cut images out with dies and I LOVE die cutting sentiments! I’m pretty good a fussy cutting images but I struggle to fussy cut sentiments nicely so having dies is great!

Before I assembled the card I cut the card-front panel to 4 x 5 1/4 which leaves a nice little framing border around it when it is on the card base. I adhered the card-front with foam tape and used some thin foam squares to adhere the duck image and sentiment. I finished by using some clear Crystal Drops over the gold eggs and berries to add a little bit of shine.
